Citrus blue is a blue component of cyanol and azulene derivatives, cyanogenic oil. It also naturally occurs as a component of guaiacard oil, which is usually used for soap (source). Its blue coloring makes it a component of shampoo and other hair care products, and its anti-inflammatory properties also make it able to soothe the scalp and hair follicles.

Safety measures / side effects:


According to the Environmental Working Group, Guaiazulene was approved by the FDA as a color additive in cosmetic products, but was not approved for sensitive eye areas around.
